Welcome to My Maths Coach
Hi! I’m Sam Richardson, and I offer GCSE and A-level maths coaching to help students ace their exams, grow in confidence, and become more independent, resourceful learners.
My Services
A-level Maths Coaching
Having done A-levels myself back in 2016, I know they’re not easy, and the jump from GCSE to A-level can often feel a large one. That being said, they’re not impossible. Far from it in fact, and with a comprehensive strategy to tackle them in place, students can gain newfound confidence in their ability and academic prospects. I work with students to develop and implement this strategy, setting them on the path to mathematical and personal success.
GCSE Maths Coaching
GCSE maths to many students can seem a real challenge, and far too often, students write themselves off as lacking mathematical talent, or worse – carrying a mathematical handicap. I work with students to disrupt this self-limiting narrative, replacing it with a healthier one, and providing them with the direction and practice they need to become confident, capable young mathematicians.
Adult Learners
In addition to GCSE and A-level maths coaching, I also provide help for adult learners. Whether you’re looking to gain a qualification such as the Functional Skills Level 2 Maths, a GCSE or A-level; or you’re simply looking to expand your mathematical horizons, I can help you by sharing with you the techniques and habits that brought me success when studying maths at university.
Personal Coaching
Sometimes, the learning blocks students experience can be so disruptive that simply engaging with their studies at all can be a real challenge. These blocks can stem from anxiety, lack of confidence, limiting beliefs, an inability to focus, or simply, because the student is unable to see a true incentive to study. As an ICF-qualified coach, I work with students to overcome these blocks, empowering them to become more independent and motivated young individuals.

Testimonials
“Sam is an outstanding maths coach. He coached my two elder children through A- level maths with great results. My eldest daughter found maths very challenging, but Sam helped her achieve her full potential. He also facilitated my son achieving A* in maths, which enabled him to go to medical school. We are delighted that Sam will also start coaching our youngest daughter in September. Sam is incredibly approachable, yet very professional and develops a great rapport with his tutees very quickly. He is able to explain things simply and effectively and tailor this to individuals with differing needs. I thoroughly recommend Sam as a maths coach.”
“We are just 7 days away from receiving Emma’s A level results. She’s been predicted 2 A’s and an A*. That last one is in mathematics and I have no doubt that her love and understanding of maths is due in part to the fantastic tutoring she received from Sam during her time at County High School.
My son is currently being tutored by Sam during the Summer holiday, just once a week to keep things ticking over. He adores Sam because he is personable, reliable, fun and a brilliant coach. We can’t thank him enough!”
“We first engaged Sam to tutor my son who had struggled with maths over lockdown without in-person teaching. He was recommended by a friend. We told Sam some areas that my son struggled with and Sam then created a programme to help him. My son feels much more confident about starting his higher level Maths GCSE course now and achieved excellent results in his end-of-year 9 assessments. As Sam was so successful with my son, we also engaged him to help my home-educating daughter through some of the more difficult aspects of her IGCSE Maths course, who went on to achieve a level 9 with Sam’s help. Sam was an absolute godsend and we have gone on to recommend him to several other friends.”
6 Tips to Overcome Maths Anxiety: Tip 2 – Get Organised
Winston Churchill famously said, "Fail to plan, plan to fail." This is a highly simplistic maxim that contains a surprising amount of truth. During my time at university, one of the most common things people would say to me upon hearing I studied maths was, "I could...
